KLEVV CRAS DDR4-3000

Update 2015.10.13

DDR4 is starting to replace DDR3 memory slowly but surely. Prices are going down and it’s being mainstreamed as well. Before, only high end desktops or X99 platforms are able to take advantage of the DDR4’s speed. Now, with the new Intel 100 series express chipset (on Z170 motherboards), mainstream users, gamers and enthusiasts are also able to take advantage of the DDR4 memory as well. Today, we are going to review the Klevv Cras DDR4 3000MHz 16GB quad channel memory kit from Essencore. The names “Essencore” and “Klevv” may be new to you since the company just started last 2014 and with the full launch of their products this early 2015. We have reviewed their Klevv Genuine, Klevv Urbane and Neo DDR3 memory modules before and now it’s time to put their flagship memory to the test. The Klevv Cras DDR4 quad channel kit we have here is originally designed for X99 systems, but it doesn’t mean you can’t use them with the new Intel Z170 motherboards. In this review, we will be testing the Cras together with an X99 motherboard and a Z170 motherboard. Check out our full review below and find out how good (or bad) this memory is.

Klevv Cras DDR4 3000MHz Memory Kit Review

The Klevv Cras DDR4 is the first, and currently the only DDR4 that the company is offering. Hopefully we will see more DDR4 memory kits from Klevv as DDR3 are slowly getting replaced by the faster and more beefy DDR4 memory. The Klevv Cras features a striking and fresh new look design just like its DDR3 memory kits. It has LED lights that glows on the top edge of its heat spreader, and users can choose from the white or red LED variants. The LED strip does not have any special effects; it doesn’t blink, pulsate or have a breathing effect, but they still look awesome. See our photos on the succeeding pages.

Klevv is also using strictly screened memory IC’s with their Cras series, just like in their DDR3 lineup. I have my kits up and running for several months now and honestly it hasn’t failed me one bit. The company has 4 different memory kits ranging from 8GB up to 32GB in capacity, and speeds from 21333MHz up to 32000MHz. The kits running at 3000MHz and above have an operating voltage of 1.35V, while the lower speeds have an operating voltage of only 1.2V.

I’ll discuss more of its features as we take a closer look at the memory on the next page. Below is a screenshot of the SPD information of the Klevv Cras DDR4 3000MHz 16GB memory kit I got using AIDA64:
